July 23, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The Science Behind It.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is a vaccine that targets certain sexually transmitted strains of human papillomavirus associated with the development of cervical cancer and genital warts. To HPV vaccines are currently on the market: Gardasil and Cervarix.

Of the more than 100 known HPV types, 37 are known to be transmitted through sexual contact. Infection with sexually transmitted HPVs is very common in adult populations worldwide. According to the Journal of the American Medical Association and by the age of 50 more than 80% of American women will have contracted at least one strain of HPV. Most people who contract the virus will not develop cervical cancer; however, each year between 250,000 and 1 million American women are diagnosed with cervical dysplasia, which is caused by HPV and is a potential precursor to cervical cancer. Cervical dysplasia may require treatment. In addition, 80% of deaths from cervical cancer occur in poor countries.

For these reasons, some public health officials recommend widespread vaccination against HPV.

Article II- Resentment

Article III- BitternessArticle

IV-Anger

Article V- Jealousy

I was reading a book the other day written by Dr. Don Colbert, titled “What you don’t know may be killing you!” He is the best selling author of Toxic Relief and the Bible Cure Series. There’s a chapter in it about the disaster of deadly emotions. This chapter caused me to really ponder deeper on my life and improving my health. Did you know that your negative emotions affect your health?

Here’s an excerpt from his book.

“When a person is upset, angry or fearful while eating, these negative emotions stimulate the sympathetic nervous system, which in turn causes decreased secretion of hydrochloric acid. This causes decreased secretion of pancreatic enzymes, which makes it harder to digest the food. Without adequate stomach acid and pancreatic enzymes, food is not properly digested. This may lead to bloating, gas, heartburn, indigestion and other digestive problems. As stated in his book, “What you don’t know may be killing you” (The Disaster of Deadly Emotions, pg. 85)

After I read this, I said “Wow”; this is pretty interesting and enlightening to know. Not only is this enlightening to know but an eye opener for me. One thing that I found very fascinating is that negative attitudes can lead you on a path to deadly emotions. Some deadly emotions are unforgiveness, resentment, bitterness, hatred, abandonment, jealousy, guilt and shame. Among these, the three deadliest are unforgiveness, resentment and bitterness. After reading this chapter, I decided to do a little research myself and obtain more information on these deadly emotions.

Research shows that 20 percent of Americans are worried that stress will affect their health, yet 36 percent say they deal with stress by eating or drinking alcohol. While these behaviors may reduce stress in the short term, they contribute to an unhealthy lifestyle that can negatively affect your body and are proven risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

All my life, experiences of death, family history of mental disorders, bitterness, unforgiveness, strokes, heart disease and digestive problems plagued us. Recently, my sister died of liver cancer and I thought, “Why is our family and friends dying from these sicknesses and diseases and how can this curse be fixed. I may be going off a little bit of my subject. I believe that if you live and be happy you will indeed be a healthier person. Of course, this journey of life, troubles will come but we have to learn how to deal with these emotions and ask God to help us through all of our trials and tribulations.

I will be writing a series of articles that deals with deadly emotions. Next article will be on unforgiveness.
